Defense of body weight depends on dietary composition and palatability in rats with diet-induced obesity.
Sprague-Dawley rats selectively bred for diet-induced obesity (DIO) or diet resistance (DR) were characterized on diets of differing energy content and palatability. Over 10 wk, DR rats on a high-energy (HE) diet (31% fat) gained weight similarly to DR rats fed chow (4.5% fat), but they became obese on a palatable liquid diet (Ensure). DIO rats gained 22% more weight on an HE diet and 50% more ...
متن کاملBenzodiazepines, appetite, and taste palatability.
Benzodiazepine agonists stimulate feeding in animals. This paper reviews evidence which indicates that benzodiazepine-induced feeding is due to a specific enhancement of the perceived palatability of food and fluids, and is not a mere secondary consequence of anxiety reduction. In studies of the effect of benzodiazepines on affective reactions that are naturally elicited from rats by tastes, we...
متن کاملPalatability as an Addictive Trigger in Obesity: A Changing Paradigm in the Past Decades
A recent study by Lindberg et al. (2011) in the Journal of Addiction Medicine aimed at answering a specific question, i.e., if some food groups or additives have been more responsible than others in the dramatic increase in body mass index (BMI) during the last decades. This study demonstrated that the additives of fats and sugars in combination, not separately, best predicted increases in BMI ...
متن کاملMAXIMAL PRYM VARIETY AND MAXIMAL MORPHISM
We investigated maximal Prym varieties on finite fields by attaining their upper bounds on the number of rational points. This concept gave us a motivation for defining a generalized definition of maximal curves i.e. maximal morphisms. By MAGMA, we give some non-trivial examples of maximal morphisms that results in non-trivial examples of maximal Prym varieties.
